PORTSMOUTH, NH — A committee interviewing potential candidates to fill a vacancy on the Portsmouth Police Commission are recommending two candidates for the Portsmouth City Council to consider. Thomas Hart and Joseph Plaia are the finalists who were chosen by the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Committee during a public interview process Thursday. The vacancy was created when Jim Splaine resigned from the commission after being elected to the city council.

Hart, according to his LinkedIn account, is a former police officer; Plaia is an attorney, former police commission member, and former candidate for Rockingham County attorney.

The city council will consider both Plaia and Hart on Feb. 18, its next regular meeting.
