5 Bands You Don't Want to Miss

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are a few shows you may want to check out:

1. Family Affair at the Press Room: This incredibly talented two-person group is one of the best acts in town. Don't miss them as they play downstairs at the Press Room tonight, at 9. There's no cover, so all you have to pay for is dinner and drinks.

2. Tim Theriault at the Portsmouth Gas Light: If you'd rather be outdoors on this fine day, then be sure to check out Theriault on the Gas Light's outdoor deck tonight at 7. Theriault, formerly of Heavens to Murgatroid, is another regular on the Seacoast scene.

3. Gnarlemagne at Fury's Publick House: Sure, you have to drive to Dover, but these guys are worth it. They rocked the Press Room a year ago for the 2011 Spotlight Awards after-party and are sure to do so again on Friday night at Fury's.

4. Melvern Taylor at the Blue Mermaid: Melvern Taylor is another legend of the local music scene. Check him out with the Fabulous Meltones on Saturday at 9 p.m. at the Blue Mermaid.

5. Wolfman Conspiracy at RiRa: In the mood for some reggae? Then check out Wolfman Conspiracy on Friday night, starting at 10, at RiRa.
