5 Things You Didn't Know About 3S Artspace

The Seacoast's newest hub for the arts and entertainment opens tonight!

Portsmouth has been buzzing as 3S Artspace prepares for their opening tonight. News outlets all over the seacoast are sharing their excitement about the variety of upcoming events, the restaurant opening, and more – the venue already proving to be a hub of entertainment, arts, and fine dining. If you haven’t heard of 3S, you certainly will have by the end of the weekend.

  1. 3S Artspace was founded in 2009. While the organization has been around for more than 5 years now, they are only just opening their new space. Renovations on the new building started in 2014, after 3 years of fundraising efforts.
  2. TEDx is coming to 3S. The next TEDxPiscataquaRiver will take place at 3S Artspace on May 8th. The speaker line-up combines award winning innovators from across many disciplines, and will be the third TEDx in Portsmouth. (Learn more)

  3. The new brand was designed by Haigh & Martino. Local agency {HAM} developed a branding system and core messaging for the new 3S, which was then translated into a comprehensive web experience by PixelMedia. Other projects by {HAM} include Vida Cantina, BRGR Bar, and the Children’s Museum of New Hampshire.
  4. The new space was developed by McHenry Architecture. The Portsmouth based firm designed and implemented 3S to be a series of spaces linked to one another. The entire space design centers around connectivity and gathering.
  5. Block Six offers a local farm-to-table experience. Chef Sam Ostrow “brings a philosophy of locally sourced cuisine with ingredients sourced from local farmers and vendors whenever possible.” (Read more about thathere.) Proceeds from the restaurant go towards 3S funding.

If those five things aren’t enough to entice you, check out the line-up of artists and musicians performing in the venue this month. From film and visual arts, thought provoking discussions with seacoast cultural leaders, all the way to family readings and dance parties, there will be something for everyone!
