Alleged Burglar Caught Fleeing the Scene
Portsmouth Police: Matthew Temple of Rochester was arrested in the Elwyn Park neighborhood after allegedly burglarizing a home.

PORTSMOUTH, NH - Portsmouth Police arrested a local man this afternoon after he allegedly fled from the scene of a home burglary.
Matthew Temple, 34, of Lafayette Street in Rochester, was arrested on Feb. 12, 2016, and charged with burglary.

Officers were called to the Elwyn Park neighborhood for a report of a residential burglary in progress, according to Detective Sgt. John Peracchi of the Portsmouth Police Department at around 1:40 p.m.
“A witness observed a male subject break into a residence and provided a detailed description of the suspect and his vehicle as he fled the area,” the detective stated. “(An officer) located the suspect’s vehicle in close proximity and stopped it.”

The driver, Temple, was taken in to custody and charged. Detectives processed the home for evidence and continue the investigation the incident, according to Peracchi.
Temple is being held without bail at the Rockingham County Jail and is scheduled to appear at the 10th Circuit District Court in Portsmouth on Feb. 16.
