Amare Cantare Presents Poulenc and Monteverdi
The concerts will be held throughout December.

Join Amare Cantare for a concert of works for the Christmas season, including Francis Poulenc’s four Christmas motets, O magnum mysterium, Quem vidistis pastores dicite, Videntes stellam, and Hodie Christus natus est. These exquisite miniatures both challenge the ear and refresh the soul with their fascinating harmonies and varied moods and colors. The group will also perform Claudio Monteverdi’s Magnificat Secondo, a beautifully tailored multi-section work employing contrasting sections of four-part chorus, solo trio, and plainchant. The program also includes Hymne à la Vièrge by Pierre Villette, Frank Ticheli’s There Will Be Rest, and pieces by Kodaly, Alfred Burt, Jan Pieters Sweelinck, and Thomas Pascual.
The concerts will be Saturday, December 13, 7:30 pm, Stratham Community Church, Sunday, December 14, 3:00 pm, St. Joseph’s Church, Dover and Wednesday, December 17, 7:30 pm, Middle Street Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
