Author Terry Farish Reads Luis Paints the World and Invites Kids to Create their Own Mural Art

Wednesday, April 27, 10:30am

Luis Paints the World by Terry Farish with art by Oliver Dominguez is a picture book and also an invitation to young readers to paint their own world. In a participatory storytime, author Terry Farish will present the story about a boy who creates a mural in his city neighborhood. The mural begins when Luis’s older brother is deployed in the army and as a way to hold on to him, Luis begins to paint his and his brother’s world on the alleyway wall. Farish will also show slides of murals and ways that students have created mural art beside neighborhood gardens. This program is part of the MOSAIC: Exploring our Multicultural Neighborhood Gallery 6 art exhibition that aims to promote appreciation and inclusion of other cultures through the arts. This event is free with museum admission. For more information visit www.childrens-museum.org.
