Bah Humbug! 'Christmas Carol' at Three Theaters

New Gundalow to set sail; Celtic Sojourn at Music Hall.

As most city residents know, there is never a shortage of fun things to do or places to go in Portsmouth. Each Thursday, we will offer five suggestions for people who are planning out their weekends.

1. "Christmas Carol" performances: The Seacoast Repertory Theatre, the Pontine Theater and the Players' Ring are all performing Charles Dickens' timeless holiday classic, "A Christmas Carol," which pits miser Ebeneezer Scrooge against three Christmas spirits. 2. "Vintage Christmas" continues: The Music Hall and Strawbery Banke Museum are teaming up this year to bring to residents and visitors. The month-long holiday celebration features everything from candlelight strolls at Strawbery Banke Museum and live holiday performances at the Music Hall to the new Pop Up Market at the Music Hall Loft.

3. Christmas folk concert: Dan Blakeslee will perform some Christmas folk music at the Press Room on Friday night at 9.

4. "The Nutcracker": The Portsmouth School of Ballet will be performing "The Nutcracker" on Saturday at 4 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Exeter High School Auditorium.

5. Gundalow sets sail: The Gundalow Co. is scheduled to make its first test maiden voyage on Saturday at 10 a.m. off Peirce Island. Carpenters and volunteers have been building the vessel for months at Strawbery Banke Museum.
