Bank Making Changes To Lobby, Staff Access Due To Coronavirus
COVID-19 leads the lobbies of Bangor Savings locations in Amherst, Concord, Portsmouth to be open by appointment only starting Wednesday.

BANGOR, ME — In an effort to take proactive measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, Bangor Savings Bank locations in New Hampshire and Maine will limit access to staff and branch lobbies by appointment only, according to the company. The measures are being taken to allow for "social and physical distancing of employees and customers" who are accessing services, as recommended by health and safety officials. The change will start on Wednesday.
Drive-up teller and ATM service will be normal as usual, according to Bob Montgomery-Rice, the president and CEO of the bank.
"Bangor Savings Bank is committed to the health and wellbeing of our employees, customers, and communities while ensuring safe and full access to banking services," he said. "The bank is prepared and has been planning specifically for COVID-19 for many weeks and will continue serving the needs of customers throughout our footprint. While we are adapting and reacting in real time, we can also be counted on to continue our role as strong community partners for the long term."

More than 650 people work for the company with some beginning to work from home Tuesday. The bank has also spent several weeks implementing precautionary measures including regular sanitization "of high touch points" and enhanced cleaning protocols.
The bank has locations at Route 101A in Amherst, Loudon Road in Concord, and Route 1 in Portsmouth.
