Barre & Soul method is based on the tradition of Lotte Berk barre classes, which developed a cult-following in New York City in the 1970s and recently became one of the hottest rising trends in mainstream fitness. Barre classes were pioneered by Lotte Berk (1913-2003), a professional ballerina who combined her orthopedic exercises with her dance training to rehabilitate her body after an injury. She created a method that was remarkably safe, challenging, and effective.
Due to amazing results and a unique approach to the full-body workout through carefully structured isometric exercise, fused with ballet conditioning and calisthenics, Berk sustained a devoted following. Today, modern pioneers in the world of barre like Lucas have taken the method and evolved it.
