Experience inspiring stories firsthand from trustees, staff, donors, volunteers, business partners, and the community as Strawbery Banke reveals the work that went on behind the scenes in 2020 to help position the museum in 2021 and beyond.

Share a laugh with event hosts, answer museum-specific trivia, and be the first to hear about plans for the future. Additionally, all attendees will be entered into a drawing to win a lifetime Strawbery Banke Membership, an estimated value of $12,000!

To ensure the museum meets its fundraising goals, the Board of Trustees of Strawbery Banke Museum has generously stepped forward with a challenge to other Strawbery Banke supporters. For the month of March only, every dollar given to the Strawbery Banke Fund will be matched, up to $25,000. Additionally, gather virtually at the museum with the Board of Trustees and staff on Thursday, March 25 at 7 PM for the first-ever March Match virtual event, "Behind the Curtain: Strawbery Banke Revealed."

Garden Planning and Design

Free and open to the public. Preregistration required.

Envision and plan seasonal garden designs in this mini virtual lecture with Erik Wochholz, Curator of Historic Landscapes. Learn how to incorporate heirloom seeds, soil science, pest management, and other techniques used in the museum’s historical gardens and landscapes into designs at home.

Virtual Homeschool Day: Cookstove Bake-Along

Thursday, March 18, 2021, 2:30-3:15 PM

Cast-iron cookstoves became popular in the 19th century during the Industrial Revolution. Bake Victorian tea cakes on a cookstove and discuss how measurements changed during the 19th century and from where ingredients came from and how they traveled to Portsmouth. Viewers are welcome to observe or download the recipe and bake along!

Virtual Archaeology Field School

Monday, June 21 - Friday, July 2, 2021.

Preregistration required.

This virtual course is intended to offer training in archaeological methodology to students in the fields of archaeology, anthropology, history, or related fields. Because social science research has been interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, archaeologists are relying on mediated techniques to continue their research. This virtual field school offers a series of eight self-paced modules including material and digital techniques that participants can explore and apply. The instructor provides recorded tours and videos from the museum grounds and lab, digital course readings, and virtual activities.

Members $50; Nonmembers $75. Limited to 35 participants.
