Boldwerks Sponsors First Make Big Change Sunscreen Dispenser in City of Portsmouth

Boldwerks proudly installs first public sunscreen dispenser in Portsmouth.

Creative marketing agency, Boldwerks has recently installed their newly sponsored sunscreen dispenser which is available for public use at their 477 State Street location.

The dispenser, which vends a broad spectrum, all-natural, organic sunscreen, is the first to pop up in the Port City – a sight that is set to show up more in the coming weeks. Based in Dover, Make Big Change is a non-profit agency creating awareness and prevention tactics in an attempt to curb the adverse health effects caused by harmful UV rays. Make Big Change was formed as an action-oriented organization wholly dedicated to fostering progressive steps towards reducing the incidence of skin cancers here on the eastern seaboard, as well as across the country. Their first major initiative occurred last week with the installation of dispensers throughout the city of Boston (https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2015/05/07/boston-city-hall-gets-free-sunscreen-dispenser/Q21VIrZMpATZoUre92zFaL/story.html), and it was announced yesterday via WMUR (http://www.wmur.com/health/sunscreen-dispensers-installed-in-some-locations/33971164) that Wentworth Douglass Hospital is sponsoring the installation of a dozen units throughout the Seacoast, including two at Prescott Park.

“We’ve been working closely with Make Big Change since their inception,” said Boldwerks Content Director, Chris Hislop. “We’re so dedicated to the mission they’re serving that two of us here in the office have actually been appointed board members of the organization. All that aside, we’re excited to be providing sunscreen to any passerby that wishes to utilize the dispenser which is mounted to our sign pole right on State Street, and are proud to be the first install in Portsmouth. Obviously this is a big weekend here in town as 4th of July celebrations commence. If you forgot your sunscreen, grab some on the way by.”

Occurrences of skin cancer have been on the rise for years. The disease existed largely as a skeleton in the closest until the release of last year’s Surgeon General’s call to action report (http://www.surgeongeneral.gov/library/calls/prevent-skin-cancer/call-to-action-prevent-skin-cancer.pdf). Revealed in this report is the fact that skin cancer is now the number one most commonly diagnosed form of cancer, with 5 million people treated annually in the U.S. alone. There is another major fact that this report highlights: that although the most prevalent form of cancer, it is also the most preventable. So, we here at Boldwerks are simply doing our part to Make Big Change. Join the movement.
