Bridge Closures Begin Tonight
The Sarah Mildred Long Bridge will close nightly for repairs from July 5 to Aug. 1.

The Sarah Mildred Long Bridge connecting Kittery, Maine and Portsmouth, N.H., will be closing nightly for safety repairs starting the night of July 5, with completion slated for Aug. 1.
Crews will be installing prefabricated steel barriers as a supplemental safety measure due to the corroded guardrail along the length of the bridge. The center lift span will have a temporary guardrail installed that will be mounted on steel posts.
Detour signs and message boards will guide motorists on either end of the bridge to the alternate routes.
