Chamber Collaborative offers free safety courses

Chamber partners with Portsmouth Police Department for Bank Safety and Active Shooter Training courses

The Chamber Collaborative in partnership with the Portsmouth Police Department is offering two presentations by the Police Department. They are both open to members as well as the general public at no charge, but advance registration is requested.

Bank Safety

On Thursday, Nov. 7, from 1 to 3 p.m., in the Hilton Garden Room of the Portsmouth Public Library, the Portsmouth Police Department will present Bank Safety. The session will include

Active Shooter Training

On Tuesday, Nov. 12 from 8 to 10 a.m .in the Levenson Room of the Portsmouth Public Library, the Portsmouth Police Department will present Active Shooter Training.

The free training on what you should do if confronted with an active shooter event is designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend strategy developed by ALERRT (Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training) in 2004. It provides strategies, guidance, and a plan for surviving an active shooter event.

The course includes:

  • History and prevalence of active shooter events
  • Civilian response options
  • Avoid, Deny, Defend Video
  • Q & A
