Community Radio Offers Free Broadcast Training

Members from the Portsmouth are welcome to come in on Monday and receive broadcast training to get on the radio.

Portsmouth Community Radio has announced its next free training session for any and all parties interested in playing a role as a volunteer in community radio whether on-air or in a support role. The session is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 16 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 pm.

“We’re on a mission to present programming that reflects the interests of the Seacoast listening community,” said Ann Bliss, the radio station’s board chair. “So we encourage anybody who might have an idea for a program that would engage the community’s interest, as well as anyone who might like to assist an on-air volunteer, to get involved.”

The training session offered is the first step, Bliss explained. “It’s a two-hour orientation at our studios at 909 Islington St. in Portsmouth. After completing this training, a volunteer is prepared to serve in a variety of off-air activities. For those interested in pursuing an on-air role or a technical one,” she said, “we’ll provide additional training, also free.”
