Now this one is super easy! Take some time to spend out in the sun. Portsmouth has many beach locations to pick from, and they’re all a stone’s throw away from the downtown area. Check outPortsmouthNH.com if you want to see a full list of Portsmouth’s coastal playgrouds.

It may not be an Amazonian expedition, but it certainly will be fun. You don’t need to trek far into the wild, only a few feet from your house. This option is definitely a ‘must-do’ if you have kids. Break out the grill, invite some friends, get some sleeping bags, and start a fire. For a more indepth look at materials and ideas (Peppermint Pattie S’mores?!), How I Pinch A Penny has all the information you’ll need.
Take A Hike

The White Mountains attract hikers from all around the country. There are beginner trails, and trails that challenge even the most experienced of outdoors folk (see the full list of trails here). The views will take your breath away as you gaze over miles of mountainous terrain while eating that lunch you packed (you packed a lunch…right?). But, if you’re not the hiking type you can take a scenic drive through the mountains to experience the scenic beauty that is New Hampshire.
Walk Around Portsmouth

Of course we’re going to give this a suggestion! Spending an evening just walking around Portsmouth can be special. The sights, sounds, and smells are some of the best in New England. You could spend money on food for the night, or avoid the spending by having a picnic at Prescott Park or Four Tree Island.
We hope these ideas inspire you to have fun this summer. If none of the these tickle your fancy, we encourage you to go and have your own adventures! The city of Portsmouth inspires so many, so we’re sure it won’t fail inspiring you to create your own awesome summer ideas.
