'Close to Home' by artist Beverly Whitehouse on exhibit at The Provident Bank in Portsmouth

The Provident Bank’s Lobby for the Arts in Portsmouth is pleased to present “Close to Home,” an exhibit of watercolor paintings by artist Beverly Whitehouse. The exhibit is on display to the public during regular bank hours through September at The Provident Bank’s Portsmouth branch located at 21 Daniel Street.
The public is invited to an Artist’s Reception honoring Beverly Whitehouse on Thursday, August 9, 2012, from 5:30-7:00 pm at The Provident Bank, 21 Daniel Street, Portsmouth. Light refreshments will be served.

A native of the New Hampshire Seacoast, Beverly Whitehouse has been painting for 20 years. Using watercolors she documents the scenes with which she grew up: cutting a Christmas tree, lobster traps stacked on a wharf, wild roses on an abandoned farm, and scenes that typify the quiet beauty of the area. Through her brush strokes, washes and an understanding of her subject, Ms. Whitehouse captures the essence of a New England that still exists on back roads and in small towns throughout the region.

The Provident Bank’s Lobby for the Arts program, celebrating its 15th year, is an ongoing series of local art exhibits displayed at all The Provident Bank branch lobbies. It receives no commissions for artwork sold, and pays all expenses associated with the exhibit. The Provident Bank has been recognized for its commitment to building a creative community with a 2012 New Hampshire Business Committee for the Arts (NHBCA) Business in the Arts Award for its Lobby for the Arts program as well as for its support of local arts and cultural organizations throughout the Seacoast New Hampshire region.
