Carolina Chocolate Drops displays its fantastic take on string band music tonight at its premiere performance. Their twist on the music of legendary fiddler Joe Thompson helped the Drops become the first black string band to play the Grand Ole Opry. Described by Rolling Stone Magazine as “dirt-floor-dance electricity,” the group is touring behind its latest CD, Genuine Negro Jig, which won the 2011 Grammy Winner for Best Traditional Folk Album.
