The Nine Questions is a venerable legend of Windham County VT. Mud Time Theater’s account is based on the article “Lost,” published in the Bellows Falls Times on 30 December 1864. Mildred Taken Crazy is drawn from a famous Vermont crime which became a national sensation. What makes the case so compelling is the violence of the passion, the human complexity involved, and the questions the story raises about who we are and how much we can change, questions that only get deeper the longer we live. Steve Friedman and Denny Partridge have collaborated on some sixy productions since 1970, beginning as members of the San Francisco Mime Troupe, then as co-founders of Modern Times Theater in New York City. They’ve created and performed their work in Asia, Central America, Europe and in most of the fifty states. They have taught at Barnard/Columbia, Vassar, Antioch, New York University, and the University of Dhaka (Bangladesh). They are members of Actors Equity and live in Bellows Falls Vermont. Mud Time, between March and May, is messy and difficult and full of hope, like the best art
