Popup Fashion Store to Open (and Close) During Market Square Day Festivities

Popup stores, popup restaurants, and popup events are becoming all the rage in the U.S. after already entering the mainstream in such trendsetting cities as London, Paris, and New York.  Leading chefs, artisans, boutiques and even heavy-hitting retailers such as Hermes and Louis Vuitton are all embracing the “nowness” that define popups, which are one-off, temporary shops that come and go at the blink of an eye.

One of the newest brands that is catching on with fashionistas, especially the male gender, is Osmium, and it has chosen Portsmouth to debut what it calls its Nomadic Retail Store popup as part of the upcoming Market Square Day festivities.  Osmium is one of the leaders, along with Fred Perry, Scotch and Soda, and several other brands in designing men’s apparel that is finely tailored, form-fitting, and attuned to the latest in European men’s fashion.

Already becoming a hit online, Osmium plans on hosting popup shops in various spots across the country, starting with its popup store at 33 Deer Street.  The popup shop, which will carry a broad selection of the brand’s clothing including its hallmark Mariner pants, Toque hats, and very long shorts, will be open for four days from June 8th to  11th --  9-9 on Friday and Saturday, 9-6 on Sunday and Monday.

PopUp Republic, an online social media marketing company that lists and promotes  popup events, profiles the Osmium Nomadic Retail Store in Portsmouth on its website.  According to a PopUp Republic spokesman, the fact that Portsmouth was chosen by an up-and-coming brand to debut its popup concept is testimony to the fact that Portsmouth is at the leading edge of both commercial and cultural trends in this country.
