"Theater fans know the term 'fringe' means any creative, original performances that can be staged in front of an audience," explains Producer Linda Palmer. "One way of looking at it is 'off-Broadway', or even 'Off-Off Broadway' - out of the established mainstream - stuff you've never seen before."

Fringe Festival philosophy advocates opportunity and exposure to artists who are innovative and willing to take risks. The international performance event originated in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1947 and continues there today as a month long festival. The Seacoast Fringe is New England's only Fringe festival.
