Ex-State Rep Crashes Pickup Twice, Arrested for DWI: Cops

Portsmouth Police also charge Christopher Serlin, a Democrat pol, with endangering children and conduct after an accident.

A local politician was arrested last night after allegedly crashing his pickup truck into other vehicles while driving drunk, according to police.

Christopher Serlin of Sparhawk Street, was arrested on Dec. 8, 2015, for aggravated driving while intoxicated, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and conduct after an accident.

According to police, officers were sent to hit-and-run crash report on Dennett Street at around 7:15 p.m. Witnesses reported seeing a large pickup truck hit a parked car and then leave the scene. A second accident was then reported about five minutes later on Mill Pond Way.

“This second accident involved a large pickup truck that pulled into the caller’s driveway and struck their vehicle,” according to Sgt. Christopher Roth. “It was reportedly still on scene and there were children inside the car as well as the driver.”

Serlin, the driver, was arrested. The endangerment charges were added after police found that two children under the age of 16 were reportedly in the car. No one was injured, according to the report. Serlin is due in court on Jan. 4, 2016.

Serlin, a Democrat, represented Newington and Portsmouth, in the Legislature for four terms.
