About the Artists
Born in Paris, Adeline Goldminc-Tronzo studied Art and Philosophy at the University of Southern Maine. In the mid-seventies she moved to New York, where she studied at the Art Students League with American Artists Marshall Glasier, Joseph Hirsch, Robert Beverly Hale, and Norman Lewis. Over the past 35 years, she has frequently exhibited her work across the US and Europe. Her work is held in numerous private collections both here and abroad. She currently lives and works in Eliot, Maine with her husband the painter Michael Tronzo.
In a monograph of her work, Lincoln Perry describes Adeline as having “... the consolation of obsession with what she does and the pure pleasure of looking at a world she clearly loves… Adeline takes time, needs time, curses time, lives in the time it takes to really take in the elusive presence of the subject, the time that almost always results in falling in love with the sitter.”
Adeline shares this passion with the other artists in this show. It is this passion, enthusiasm, energy and inclusiveness that her students have found in her classes, workshops and trips to France for over fifteen years. She takes care to observe qualities in her students’ work and introduce them to other artists from whom they may learn or be inspired. From her teaching, a community has grown. Her students are very pleased to present her work, and theirs, all month at the library.
