Farmers Market, Children's Day on Tap This Weekend

Music Hall Kitchen Tour happening on Saturday in New Castle; Truffle at Press Room Friday.

As most city residents know, there is never a shortage of fun things to do or places to go in Portsmouth. Each Friday, we will offer five suggestions for people who are planning out their weekends.

1. Portsmouth Farmer's Market: Seacoast Growers Association will bring the Portsmouth Farmer's Market back to the City Municipal Complex on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. where Portsmouth area residents can purchase fresh vegetables, fruits and crafts grown and made locally.

2. Children's Day: Pro Portsmouth's Children's Day will take place on Sunday, May 6 from 12 noon to 4:30 p.m. downtown where kids can play all sorts of games, enjoy great food and live music.

3. Music Hall Kitchen Tour: Climb aboard a trolley and head to New Castle for the Music Hall Kitchen Tour. People can get great ideas for remodeling their kitchens by visiting different homes on the island community.

4. Truffle at Press Room: The rhythm and blues band Truffle will play at The Press Room on Friday night at 9 p.m. There is a $6 cover at the door.

5. "Animal Farm" at Players Ring: This is also the final weekend that The Players Ring will present George Orwell's classic "Animal Farm" on stage on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. on Sunday at 7 p.m.
