Farmer's Market Opening This Saturday, May 2nd
Come enjoy the local community, great music, and fresh food!

Mark your calendars citizens of Portsmouth! This coming Saturday is the start of “farmer’s market season”. This is a great time in the city because it means that the warm summer months are right around the corner (and they couldn’t come fast enough). It’s also a great time for you to get your garden started. As it says on Portsmouthnh.com, this farmer’s market season is launching a “Get Your Garden Started” challenge. What this means is that seeds for various flowers and vegetables will be available for you to come browse and find the right plants for your garden.
This challenge encourages participants to share photos of their gardens on Portsmouth and Exeter Farmers’ Market Facebook pages during the month of May. When you post a photo, you’ll automatically be entered to win! The winner will be selected in early June, and will win $25.00 in Market Money gift certificates. So get out there and plant people!
The Farmer’s Market will be open from 8:00am until 1:00pm, rain or shine (so check the weather in case you need a rain coat or sunscreen) and is located in the Portsmouth City Hall lot. If you’re not able to attend this weekend opening, don’t worry, the Market is open every Saturday at this time and at this location through the summer months. If you can attend, please come out and enjoy some fun times supporting local farms and the community. This opening event will be accompanied with music by contemporary folk duo Mike and Mike, as well as a fresh and happy atmosphere as the city of Portsmouth embraces the warm weather and spring breezes.
