The new Memorial Bridge is weeks away from completion.

Crews successfully floated the final piece of the bridge into place early Monday morning.

The bridge, connecting Portsmouth to Kittery, Maine, is scheduled to open sometime in July.

The old bridge was shut down in 2011, 88 years after it was built.

The cost of the new bridge is $89 million, according to state officials. It retains the "lift" style of the previous bridge. The middle span can be raised to let marine traffic through.

A group has also raised money to illuminate the bridge.
