Rhythm and Roots Festival, 'Willy Wonka' Happening this Weekend

"Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" continues at Prescott Park, "Chicago" is over at the Rep, Valerie Vigoda at the Music Hall.

As most city residents know, there is never a shortage of fun things to do or places to go in Portsmouth. Each Friday, we will offer five suggestions for people who are planning out their weekends.

1. Don't miss Rhythm and Roots Festival: The Prescott Park Arts Festival will hold its annual Rhythm and Roots Festival on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. that will feature several great bands, including the Lunasa of Ireland.

2. Valerie Vigoda at Music Hall: Valerie Vigoda, an electric violinist and vocalist, will perform at the Music Hall on Saturday with her band, Groovelily, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 each and they include one beverage.

3. "Chicago" at the Rep: The Broadway musical "Chicago," continues at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre from now through Aug. 26 with shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

4. "Willy Wonka" continues: If you haven't seen this summer's Prescott Park Arts Festival production of the musical "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," you can catch it on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m.

5. See Ellen Page: Don't miss Ellen Page at the Press Room. She will be performing some great rock music on Saturday at 9 p.m. There is a $5 cover charge for Saturday's show.
