Four Arrested During Portsmouth Sobriety Checkpoint

According to police, 305 drivers were screened last night.

The Portsmouth Police Department held a sobriety checkpoint on Aug. 30, on 500 Market St. and during the process of the checkpoint, which lasted four hours, more than 300 drivers were screened.

Four men were also arrested, all on driving while intoxicated charges, according to police.

The four arrested were Kevin Quilan, 43, of Avon Street in Cambridge; Stephen Doucette, 59, of Washington Street in Barrington; Michael O’Malley, 59, of Shawnee Lane in Dover; and Kurt Eddins, 24, of Spinnaker Way in Portsmouth.

They were all released on personal recognizance bail and are due in court on Sept. 15.

According to Capt. Frank S. Warchol, the patrol division commander, members of the Portsmouth Police Explorer Post also assisted with the checkpoint.
