Fractured Baby Skull Incident Investigated in Portsmouth

Breaking: Police seek tips after a mother brings in a 6-month-old to the hospital with serious injuries.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Portsmouth Police are investigating a possible baby assault incident reported on Sunday morning, according to an alert. The baby was brought to Portsmouth Hospital at around 1:30 a.m. and hospital staffers then contacted police.

“Staff (is) reporting a baby brought in by mom with a complaint of (a) bruise on the (baby’s) head,” according to dispatch. “(The) baby has (a) fractured skull.”

The baby was later transported to Boston Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA, for further testing and since has been released, according to Sgt. John Peracchi of the Portsmouth Police Department.

“Detectives from the Investigative Division are investigating the circumstances of the baby’s injury,” he noted.

Police, however, are seeking any tips about the case.
