I am running for City Council because I want to ensure that Portsmouth’s public education, public safety, and sustainable economic growth are maintained as we weather these uncertain economic times.

As our city continues to grow and develop, the City Council has an obligation to ensure that the burden of these municipal responsibilities do not fall excessively on the taxpayer. We do this by being fair, but tough with the union contracts, looking for alternative cost cutting solutions such as regionalization and integration, and continuing to develop private/public partnerships such as the one that just recently saved the indoor pool.

(Editor's note: Between now and Portsmouth's Nov. 8 municipal election , we will run profiles of the candidates running for City Council, School Board, and the Police and Fire commissions.)
