Find out what's happening in Portsmouthfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

We know that this year has been challenging for everyone. As we reflect back on 2020, we are most thankful for the support of our donors, volunteers and community members. We realize that without them, HAVEN would not be able to end violence and change lives in the innovative and powerful ways we have this year.

For Black History Month this February, and Women’s History Month in March, HAVEN is honoring Influential Feminists who have led the way and inspired others to speak their truths and to blaze their own courageous paths. To read our most recent blog about Maya Angelou CLICK HERE!

WINTER ADVOCACY TRAINING
HAVEN welcomed 14 new advocates after our second ever virtual advocacy training this month! We are so grateful for all the support from our staff who made this virtual advocacy training possible. If you, or someone you know, is looking to join our incredible team of volunteers- please visit our website today to learn more!
CLIENT SERVICE SHOUT-OUT:
In just the first two weeks of February, HAVEN's advocates attended 16 Child Advocacy Center accompaniments and 6 court accompaniments. In the past year, HAVEN's staff has worked with people through a global pandemic, an economic crisis, a politically polarized election, a racial justice movement and chronic uncertainty, anxiety and depression. Our staff has shown up to support survivors through it all with no preparation, warning and all while they went through the same collective experiences themselves.
Meet HAVEN's newest staff members!

Finance Director- Maureen Miller
HAVEN welcomed Maureen to our staff in mid-January. When Maureen isn't conducting financial tasks and providing financial information that contributes to maintaining, and enhancing the stability of our organization, she is doing yoga and taking walks on the beach! Her primary goal at HAVEN is to consistently support the valued vision and mission that guides the important work on behalf of clients and the community.

Community Outreach Advocate- Lindsey Frank
Lindsey joined HAVEN back in 2019 as a front desk volunteer and expanded to the role of volunteer advocate soon after. She spent the next year helping HAVEN in both roles and fell in love with the work. In October 2020, a part time position as Night Staff became available and she jumped at the opportunity to work for HAVEN. After a few months of working with clients on nights and weekends, she decided to apply for the full-time position as Community Advocate. She will continue to serve clients in an advocate capacity while assisting our outreach team to cultivate and maintain community relationships. When Lindsey is not working she is climbing mountains with her two sons or reading a book, sometimes three books at a time!
