Patch has partnered with GoFundMe and is highlighting worthy campaigns in local communities.

A local resident who is battling Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma is seeking help with his medical bills.
Laura Hovenstine is asking for donations to help her friends Chris and Casey with medical bills while Chris undergoes treatment for cancer, according to the GoFundMe.com page. Patch has partnered with GoFundMe and is helping to highlight worthy campaigns in local communities.
In just five days, 66 people have already donated $4,355. The goal is $5,000.
From the page:
"For over a month Chris was experiencing severe chest and back pain. The first time he went to the doctors they told him it could just be a muscle strain and to just wait it out and do some stretching and chiropractic stuff. A few weeks later he felt a lump in this throat and went to the doctors again and they sent him immediately to the ER and get more testing and images done. His blood work came back normal but the ultrasound and CT scan did NOT. The CT scan showed a large mass in his neck and an even larger mass in his chest (which was causing all the pain). A few days later Chris met with another doctor that performed a surgical biopsy on his neck, and was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Large Cell.
He then immediately met with an Oncologist and then went down to Boston for a second opinion. Less than a week of his diagnosis he started Chemo treatments. Chemo treatments are every 3 weeks for 6 treatments. After his 6 treatments he will be in remission for 2.5 years and will have MRI's done every 6 months and if he is cleared of any cancerous cells after 2.5 years he is completely cured and it will never come back!"
