'Hungry for Hope' Event to Help Alleviate Seacoast Opioid Crisis
The community will come together for a fundraiser for the Safe Harbor Recovery Center on Sept. 14, at One Harbour Place in Portsmouth.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — On Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, the Seacoast community will come together for Hungry for Hope, an evening of wine, dining, and the discussion of a very prevalent issue: the opioid crisis that has spread across the Seacoast, according to a press statement. John Akar, co-owner of Cava Tapas and Wine Bar, and Renee Plummer, VP of Marketing for Two International Group, are the spark behind Hungry for Hope. With the help of numerous restaurants, wine and beer vendors, and community sponsors, Akar and Plummer have created an evening where locals can enjoy food and drink under the September Harvest moon, and it will benefit Safe Harbor Recovery Center, a resource for those struggling with alcohol and drug addiction across the Seacoast. Participating restaurants and vendors include Cava, Black Trumpet, Louie’s, The Black Birch, and Smuttynose, to name a few.
The Hungry for Hope fundraising event will be held at One Harbour Place in Portsmouth from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 14. Both General Admission and VIP tickets are available, with the VIP level granting the ticketholder free valet parking and early admission into the event.
