Irish Comedy Tour Coming to Music Hall
Music Hall Loft to host several comedy shows this summer.

The irreverent, side-splitting Irish Comedy Tour kicks off a summer of laugh therapy at The Music Hall, the performing arts center featuring entertainment from around the world in its landmark 900-seat Historic Theater and the intimate Music Hall Loft.
The belly-laugh trio of Derek Richards, Mike McCarthy, and Keith Aherne - known for full throttle comedy in the atmosphere of an Irish pub —will be performing at the Loft on Friday, June 1 and Saturday June 2 at 7:30 p.m. both evenings.
“Now, more than ever, people need to laugh,” says The Music Hall’s Executive Director and Lead Curator Patricia Lynch. “Building on the success of our Hilarity at The Music Hall series, we’re excited to bring outstanding comic talent to The Music Hall this summer, starting with the uproarious Irish Comedy Tour. I for one can’t wait to revisit the funniest pub in Dublin—right here in Portsmouth.”

Following the Irish Comedy Tour is the hysterically funny drag act Miss Richfield 1981, with a new show called “2012—We’ll All Be Dead by Christmas!” This irresistible, larger-than-life performer who wowed Music Hall audiences last year is returning to The Loft on three dates this summer: Saturday, June 9, 8 p.m.; Sunday, July 1, 7 p.m.; and Sunday, August 5, 7 p.m.
In July, also back by popular demand, is the multi-media sensation Super Secret Project, a comedy trio for mature audiences that has more than 7 million views on YouTube. Don’t miss their hilarious performance on Friday July 20, 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., and Saturday, July 21, 7 p.m.

And, all these Hilarity shows are in the Loft, just designated the “best performing arts venue” by Yankee Magazine, and which the Portland Phoenix described as, “brand new, very chic Music Hall Loft…gorgeously designed space… sleek, modern, and stocked with a full bar and a selection of victuals you can bring to your seats in its intimate theater”
The laughs don’t end with our Hilarity series this summer. After a 13-year hiatus, whimsical movie director Whit Stillman, known for his tongue-in-cheek takes on the bourgeoisie in Metropolitan and Barcelona, is back with a new comedy, Damsels in Distress. Catch it at The Music Hall on June 23, 24, 26, 27, and 28. “Like all his films, Damsels is stuffed with quixotic types striving after ideals they're ill-equipped to achieve. . . a delightfully giddy comedy”— National Public Radio
Whether it’s stand-up comedy or cinema, The Music Hall is the place to be for laugh therapy this summer!
