LizFit Raises $40K for Local Charities
Spinning Generosity fundraiser will help Families First, Dover Children's Home, Womenaid of Greater Portsmouth, and other orgs.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — Group fitness business, LizFit wrapped up its sixth annual Spinning Generosity event this past Sunday and raised an astonishing $40,121.00 for local charities. Six years ago, LizFit owner and founder, Liz Forkel, began this seven-day spinning event where each day, participants ride to support local organizations, according to a press statement.
2011 was the debut of Spinning Generosity, held at Spinnaker Point Recreation Center in Portsmouth, and LizFit raised a total of $7,515. Five years later, LizFit has raised an astonishing $40,121 and a total of $104,629 to date.
"What this week-long event does for our community is outstanding," said Forkel. "We never dreamed of raising this much money for seacoast organizations, and we couldn't to it without the enthusiasm and support from the LizFit community. It's humbling."

Charities that the LizFit community raised money for this year included Families First, Dover Children’s Home, Womenaid of Greater Portsmouth, END 68 Hours of Hunger, New Heights, Community Toolbox, and the NHSPCA. All of the money will go directly to the respective organizations and will contribute to our neighbors in need this holiday season.
The competition-style event has voted six of the seven charities back for Spinning Generosity 2017, and participants who contributed to the top three, highest-grossing charities will be rewarded with a wine and cheese party later this winter to celebrate their accomplishments.

"It's amazing to have everyone gather during Spinning Generosity - members from organizations, our team, LizFitters old and new... the room is high-energy and everyone's in a good mood... what more could we ask for? We're grateful this has been such a success year after year”.
Forkel spends a lot of the year planning for this annual event that gets bigger every year.
“Working with representatives from each organization, and seeing their faces when we present them with the donations is an incredibly rewarding feeling.”
Let’s see what next year will bring!
