Man Charged with Stealing Wheelchair from Hospital

The following is an excerpt from the Portsmouth Pollce log from Monday, June 24 through Tuesday, June 25.

Monday:

  • At 9:08 a.m., police reported an accident on Woodbury Avenue and Bartlett Street after a New Hampshire Department of Public Works truck hit a parked car.
  • At 10:57 a.m., police reported an emergency at Pease International Tradeport after an inbound New Hampshire Air National Guard KC-135 Stratotanker and its four-member crew reported trouble with the landing gear. The crew and aircraft landed safely at Pease Air National Guard Base.
  • At 11:01 a.m., police reported criminal mischief at the Vaughn Mall after someone threw a rock through a front window of Cabot House furniture.
  • At 12:22 p.m., police reported the theft of a laptop on Banfield Road.
  • At 2:46 p.m., police reported the theft of some tools on Northwest Street.
  • At 4:33 p.m., police reported a motor vehicle accident with injury on the Route 1 Bypass northbound and Market Street.
  • At 6:32 p.m., police reported a theft by an employee at a Vaughn Mall store that was caught on video.
  • At 7:01 p.m., police took a juvenile into protective custody following a domestic incident on Pine Street.
  • At 8:55 p.m., police reported a simple assault on Gosling Road after a female subject said another female subject punched her in the face.
Tuesday:
  • At 12:22 a.m., police reported a prowler complaint on Broad Street.
  • At 1:06 a.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man who was wanted as a fugitive from justice on Borthwick Avenue after staff at Portsmouth Regional Hospital said he stole a wheelchair. Tyler N. Lunday, 27, of 600 Lafayette Road was wanted on two bench warrants.
  • At 1:57 a.m., police arrested a Portsmouth man following a domestic incident on Holiday Drive. Michael Brent Sargent, 30, of 45 Holiday Drive, Apt. A, was charged with simple assault, criminal mischief (vandalism), and also on a bench warrant.
