Man Cited For Mobile Electronic Device After Crash, Fire
Harold Brill of Portsmouth allegedly drove his pickup truck into a gas pump and a parked vehicle causing a fire, according to police.

PORTSMOUTH, NH — A local man was cited by police tonight after reportedly crashing his pickup truck into a station gas pump on Maplewood Avenue, according to police. Harold Brill of Wentworth Road in Portsmouth was cited for mobile electronic device while operating a motor vehicle after police and firefighters were called to Buzzy’s Bypass Gas for a report a crash. At just before 8 p.m. on July 23, 2017, they reportedly found that the pickup truck had left the roadway, struck a gas pump, and then a parked vehicle, according to Sgt. Christopher Kiberd of the Portsmouth Police Department.

“The collision with the gas pump resulted in a fire which was extinguished by Portsmouth fire personnel,” Kiberd stated. “There were no reported injuries as a result of the accident. The fire scene resulted in a road closure in the immediate area to protect the scene.”

Kiberd stated that speed is also believed to have been a factor in the crash. The accident is still under investigation and anyone who may have witnessed the accident can contact Officer Nicolas Small at 603-610-7561.
