Market Square Day Logo Unveiled
Pro Portsmouth officials say the 35th annual event will also feature more music.
Barbara Massar said Pro Portsmouth officials put a lot of thought into how they wanted to present the 35th anniversary Market Square Day on June 10 and decided to have more music.
As a result, Pro Portsmouth's executive director said the Beatles Tribute band, All Together Now, will perform on the outdoor stage on Pleasant Street to conclude the day's festivities so more people will be able to gather in a larger area to enjoy the music.
"We have a really great formula and we're going to stick with it," Massar said. "But it will be all about the music."

Besides All Together Now, Massar said the Seacoast Repertory Theatre's players and singers will perform on the Pleasant Street stage at 11:30 a.m. and the group Old Abode, which won the First Night 2012 Battle of the Bands, will also perform during the afternoon. Here is a complete list and schedule of Market Square Day events.
Massar said registrations for the 10k road race that begins at the North Church and ends at Strawbery Banke Museum closed on May 14 after 2,000 runners signed up. She said they are just done taking applications for vendors and craftspeople. "We're right about at the number where we are about sold out," she said.

Massar said Pro Portsmouth will also selling vintage 10k road race T-shirts at the Connie Bean Recreation Center on Friday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 9, from 7 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. for $5 apiece or three for $10. These T-shirts are from road races that date from 2011 on back. They are being sold on the same day that runners pick up their road race bib registrations.
Besides more music, a revamped Pro Portsmouth web site and the 10k road race, Massar also unveiled this year's Market Square Day logo created by Portsmouth artist Carolyn Vibbert. According to a Pro Portsmouth press release, Vibbert's design was chosen from nearly 75 submissions and will be featured on all Race and Volunteer T-shirts as well as the Festival T-shirt which will be available at the Pro Portsmouth booth in Market Square during the event.
The second and third place designs were both submitted by David Lopatich and a member’s of Terra Merry’s Portsmouth High School Computer Graphics’ classes, Aries Fitzsimmons.
Vibbert said she wanted to go with more colors that would appeal to men and women, which is why she chose green, blue, and red to illustrate the North Church, Portsmouth tugboats, fish and a light, whimsical design in general.
