McPherson: Maggie’s Dirty Money
She's exercising her right to remain silent. So is the New Hampshire Democratic Party.

It began a year before the 2022 election. At first it was like a rash, an irritating itch that just wouldn’t abate. Then before we knew it, Maggie Hassan was everywhere.
TV, radio, online. It was terrifying.
That impish grin. Those braindead doey eyes. Her voice, like gravel in a woodchipper. My god, the horror. She was bloody everywhere.

Where on earth is she getting all that money, we thought. Is the New Hampshire Democratic Party, that vile repository of more scum and villainy than the Mos Eisley Spaceport, a bottomless well of cash? The ads were interminable.
Money can’t buy happiness, but lots of it from a questionable source can help buy a US Senate seat. The New Hampshire Journal reports that recently incarcerated and soon-to-be-extradited Samuel Bankman-Fried, the alleged center of “one of the biggest financial frauds in American history,” was a bigtime fan of our junior Senator and her whole venal party.

From the Journal,
“All of this dirty money was used in service of Bankman-Fried’s desire to buy bipartisan influence and impact the direction of public policy in Washington,” said Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York.
And no member of Congress received more of that "dirty money” than Hassan. She was tied for sixth place on the list of Bankman-Fried donation recipients, just ahead of New Hampshire’s Democratic Party at number eight.
Now we know how New Hampshire Democrats were able to fund that endless tripe. They had access to an ATM owned by a criminal. How fitting.
Not surprisingly, both Senator Hassan and NHDP's Ray Buckley have declined to comment.
