Michael Manville to Speak on Parking

Parking expert Michael Manville will be in Portsmouth on April 2nd to answer any questions people have on parking in the city.

There are few feelings better than the one you get when you know you’ve found the perfect parking spot, (insert George Costanza comment here) especially in Portsmouth. It’s no real secret that parking in the city…in any city really…can be difficult. The city of Portsmouth has done its best to combat these difficulties by proposing the addition of a new parking structure which will make space for around 600 vehicles.

However until that time comes we still need to find places to park, and this can at times be concerning. We want solutions to these problems. We want to know about our city’s parking situation, right?

Well Portsmouth has heard the cries of its people, and has asked Michael Manville to address these concerns about parking. On April 2nd, Portsmouth SmartGrowth 21st Century is putting on an event at the recently opened 3S Artspace where Mr. Manville will speak to those who are willing to listen.

PS21 could not have selected a better person for speaking on this issue; Michael Manville studies the relationship between transportation, land use and public finance, and has a particular emphasis on urban parking policy. Manville is armed with a PhD from UCLA and his research has been published in major planning and transportation journals. Needless to say, Michael’s work stands for itself, and there could not be a better person to help address the issue of parking in the city.

The event is taking place on Thursday April 2nd from 6:30pm to 9:00pm. It’s free of charge, but make sure to RSVP for the event here. Bring your questions as well, because Michael Manville will be doing a Q&A session after his initial presentation. Get excited people, some much needed light will end up being shed on a topic that is very important to all who visit Portsmouth.
