Bluegrass, Film and Grill Fest This Weekend
Redhook's Polar Grill Fest on Saturday highlights another fun weekend in Portsmouth.
As most city residents know, there is never a shortage of fun things to do or places to go in Portsmouth. Each Thursday, we will offer five suggestions for people who are planning out their weekends.
1. See the Carolina Chocolate Drops: On Thursday night, the Carolina Chocolate Drops will perform at the Music Hall at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $19 for members and $24 for non-Music Hall members.
2. Winter film series: The Portsmouth Public Library's Winter Film Series continues on Thursday night with a showing of "The Guard" at 7:30 p.m. The movie stars Brendan Gleeson and Don Cheadle. Comedy/Thriller. An unorthodox Irish policeman with a confrontational personality is teamed up with an uptight FBI agent to investigate an international drug-smuggling ring. Admission is free.

3. Don't miss "Three Superstars in Berlin": On Saturday, three of the biggest names in opera will perform a show titled," Three Superstars in Berlin," at the Music Hall at 1 p.m. Tickets are $20.
4. Redhook's Polar Grill Fest: On Saturday, there is no better cure for the winter blues than Redhook Ale Brewery's first ever Polar Grill Fest. The event features great beer, food and live music and runs from 12 noon to 5 p.m. It is open to people 21 years of age and older. Admission is $5.

5. Discover Portsmouth Center: The Discover Portsmouth Center on Middle Street is always a great place for families to learn more about the city's history and cultural heritage.
