NASCAR Racer Jeff Burton to Visit City

Race car driver will be in Prescott Park this Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.

NASCAR racer Jeff Burton will be motoring into Prescott Park this Wednesday as part of a special Pit Stop Campaign 2012 tour sponsored by the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon.

According to the NHMS web site, Burton is scheduled to visit Boston's Faneuil Hall at 10:30 a.m. and Manchester City Hall at 12:30 p.m. before he comes to Portsmouth.

Burton's goal is to stir up some excitement for the Sylvania 300 race in Loudon on Sept. 23 by meeting with the Portsmouth area's many NASCAR fans, according to the NHMS web site.

Burton, who is known as the “Mayor of NASCAR,” wants his fans to follow him as he sets out to win his fifth-career race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, according to the NHMS web site.

New Hampshire Motor Speedway officials say ESPN personality Allen Bestwick will travel with Burton and serve as an emcee at his various stops.

The Prescott Park event is open to the public and NHMS will give out campaign souvenirs on a first-come, first served basis. Burton also hopes to sign some autographs and meet as many of his fans here in the city as possible.
