National Night Out Coming Next Week
Annual Portsmouth Police event will be held in several city neighborhoods on Aug. 7.

On Tuesday, August 7, more than 20 neighborhoods throughout Portsmouth will join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for the 29th Annual National Night Out Against Crime (NNO).
Portsmouth’s Neighborhood based NNO celebrations aim to foster partnerships between Portsmouth residents and members of the police department and to strengthen and connect our community. This year marks the 18th year that neighborhoods throughout Portsmouth will participate in this national event.
The Citywide Neighborhood Committee, a mayoral blue ribbon committee, and the Portsmouth Police Department co-sponsor this annual event with generous support from Seacoast Crime Stoppers. NNO is an evening outdoors filled with social activities and block parties, designed to strengthen neighborhood cooperation and police-community partnership. McGruff the Crime Dog will be making stops in city neighborhoods alongside equipment and personnel from the Portsmouth Police and Fire Departments and Public Works.
