National Nutrition Month

Food is Powerful Medicine

March is National Nutrition Month, a time for raising awareness about making food choices that are right for you and developing beneficial eating patterns. Many people take a look at their diets around the first of the year, but March is a great time to reevaluate and refocus. Here are a few tips:

1. Clean out your pantry & fridge: discard or donate what isn't benefitting you. Is there a food lurking that you know you'll never eat? Move it out and make room for things that will be utilized.

2. Plan ahead: dedicate time each week to deciding what you'll eat so you aren't left stressed and scrambling. Pinterest, newspapers, and social media platforms have great recipes. Or better yet! Reach out to an old friend or family member for some recipes.

3. Eat for nourishment and fulfillment: choose foods that are both nutritious and are enjoyable. Eating well will not become a habit if you are making yourself stick to foods you don't like. Mix in enjoyable foods for a more sustainable way of eating.

Eating a diet that is diverse and filled with the right foods for you is paramount. But even with a good menu, deficiencies in nutrients can arise. If you need help figuring out what to eat to best nourish your body, reach out to the D'Adamo Institute and get a menu designed specifically for you!
