NH Race for the Cure Needs Volunteers, Course Monitors

Come out and volunteer for a great cause

Volunteers are needed now for the fourth annual Komen New Hampshire Race for the Cure®, a 5K run and walk to benefit Susan G. Komen Vermont-New Hampshire and the regional fight against breast cancer. While most of the actual volunteering is still a ways away (the race kicks off on Saturday, May 9, at Strawbery Banke in downtown Portsmouth) the sooner volunteers are registered, the sooner their strengths and preferences can be sorted and positions assigned. If you’re interested in being part of the throng, and part of the cure, register now at komenvtnh.org.

Volunteers play a vital role in the success of the Race and, ultimately, in the betterment of the lives of hundreds of families and countless individual women, men and children; Course Monitors are especially needed, but all volunteers - on-site registration, run and walk cheerleaders, water stop and Kid’s Tent volunteers, etc. - are welcome and appreciated. Volunteers are also needed at various events and for certain chores prior to Race day.

The race begins at 9:00 am and volunteers are needed from 6:00 am – 12:00 pm; folks can sign up for the entire day or in three or four hour shifts either at the Start and Finish area at Strawbery Banke or along the 5K course.

It’s important to remember that annually, up to 75% of all monies raised by the affiliate underwrites breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs in New Hampshire and Vermont – in 2014, $350,000 was granted to breast health organizations in the two states – while the remaining 25% is dedicated to Komen’s breast cancer research initiatives.

To volunteer, visit the New Hampshire Race page at komenvtnh.org (under the Ways to Get Involved drop down tab) call Carolyn at 617-501-2728 or email KomenRaceNHVolunteers@gmail.com.
