NHTP Presents Summer Theatre Camps

Register now for New Hampshire Theatre Project's popular summer theatre camps for children ages 6 to 17.

NHTP offers Summer Theatre Camps as a great way to educate students about the world and work of theatre. NHTP camps are held at the air-conditioned West End Studio Theatre in Portsmouth and provide students with the opportunity to create and present their work in a professional theatre venue. All NHTP instructors have extensive experience working with students in both educational & theatrical settings. NHTP camps emphasize artistic excellence, critical thinking, teamwork, and lots of summer fun!

If you’d like to enroll in a camp, please send us your name, student’s name, age of student, contact information, the name & dates of the camp you would like to enroll in and a deposit either by check to NHTP at 959 Islington Street, Portsmouth NH, 03801 or pay your deposit online at www.nhtheatreproject.org/payment. Some scholarships may be available for students with demonstrated need. Kids Theatre Camp (ages 6-9) ~ July 6-11, 2015
Time: 9 am-Noon
Fee: $325 (Deposit $125)

Now in its fourteenth year, KTC features creative drama, movement, and visual arts activities while bringing stories to stage. Campers meet Monday-Friday, 9 am-Noon, with final performances at 10 am & 11:30 am on Saturday. Limited to 14 campers.

Story Theatre Camp (ages 8-12) ~ July 20-Aug 1, 2015
Time: 9 am-3 pm
Fee: $525 (Deposit $175)

NHTP’s most popular camp has been a favorite of seacoast children for 20 years!! Story Theatre Camp explores myths, folktales, stories and literature from many different cultures, and this year’s theme is Monsters Magical and Marvelous. Activities include acting, writing, movement, visual arts and music with an emphasis on ensemble performances based on children’s literature and original writing by participants. Campers meet Monday to Friday, 9am to 3pm, with final performances on Friday, July 31 at 7 pm, and Saturday, August 1 at 11 am and 1 pm. Limited to 20 campers.

Teen Theatre Camp (ages 13-17) July 6-18, 2015
Time: July 6-10, 1-4 pm; July 13-17, 10 am-4 pm
Fee: $525 (Deposit $175)
Director: CJ Lewis

Past Teen Camps have featured Vaudeville, Alternative History, Sherlock Holmes, Comedy Through the Ages, Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Dumas’ The Three Musketeers. Participants will learn acting skills along with intensive vocal and physical techniques. Final performances, based on classic dramatic scripts and camper-generated material, will be presented Friday, July 17 at 7 pm & Saturday, July 18 at 2 pm & 7 pm. Limited to 20 campers.

Strafford Summer Arts Camp ~ Aug 3-7, 2015
Time: 9 am - 3 pm
Fee: $325 ($250 for residents of Center Strafford, NH)
Directors: Genevieve Aichele & Randy Armstrong

Held at Strafford School in Strafford, NH and guided by NHTP Director, Genevieve Aichele, activities include dramatic theatre and movement instruction, storytelling, costume design and set decoration/setup. Instrumentalist and instructor, Randy Armstrong, brings world instruments the children are excited to play; learning to play multi-cultural music, play sound effects, with no prior experience necessary. The emphasis of this camp is placed on collaboration, gaining self-confidence and an appreciation for world cultures through theater, art and music. And, of course, fun!
Campers meet Monday-Friday, 9am-3pm, with a Friday evening performance for the Community at 6:30 p.m. (NOTE: This camp is NOT held at West End Studio Theatre).
