NYC Woman Bagged Driving 111 MPH On I-95: NHSP
State police charged Marcee Smith with reckless operation this morning after allegedly being tracked by aircraft in Greenland.

GREENLAND, NH — A New York woman is due in court next month to face a reckless operation charge after being charged on I-95 this morning allegedly driving 111 mph in 65 zone, according to New Hampshire State Police. Marcee R. Smith, 56, of New York, NY, was charged on July 2, 2017, after allegedly being clocked by state police from the air at just after 8:30 a.m. this morning. A pilot for the NHSP’s special enforcement unit reportedly saw a 2017 Ford Fusion driving southbound on the highway at an “extremely high rate of speed,” according to Lt. Sean Haggerty of the NHSP HQ Troop.

Troopers on the ground were radioed and she was stopped in Greenland.

“When asked why she was traveling at that speed, Smith stated that she did not realize that she was going that fast,” according to Haggerty.
Smith was charged and released. She’s due in Portsmouth District Court on Aug. 14.

Haggerty added that the NH State Police Special Enforcement Unit regularly interdicts elevated speed violations and other aggressive driving behaviors. Its members patrol across the state often utilizing the State Police aircraft during commuter traffic periods and holiday travel times with the goal of keeping New Hampshire’s roadways safe for all residents and visitors, he stated.
