Officials Meet Next Week to Push Back Against EPA Mandates on Great Bay, Other Sites
U.S. Cong. Frank Guinta is holding a Town Meeting next week for selectmen, town managers and engineers dealing with costly federal mandates.
Cleaning up pollution in the Great Bay could cost taxpayers “hundreds of thousands of dollars, even millions, over the next few years,” due to the Environmental Protection Agency’s new mandates, according to 1st Dist. Cong. Frank Guinta’s office.
So, Guinta’s holding a Town Hall next week to fight back. He says Southern New Hampshire needs a “coordinated response,” particularly because the Seacoast isn’t the only area where residents could be saddled with new fees and fines.
Potentially, 62 New Hampshire spots, including Manchester, Plaistow and Rochester, could also be impacted.

The Town Hall is set for Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 2 p.m. at the Manchester Public Works Building, 475 Valley St., Manchester.
“In Congress, I've championed efforts to improve the environment, such as my amendment to increase the Land and Water Conservation Fund that protects the Beebe River,” he added. “We can also protect our economy and constitutional rights by driving back this latest power grab, threatening to destroy local budgets.”
