Pease Base Near Portsmouth Put On Lockdown, No Threats Found

The base went into lockdown for 26 minutes Saturday morning.

NEWINGTON, NH — Pease Air National Guard Base near Portsmouth was placed on lockdown Saturday morning after a report of gun shots. According to the New Hampshire National Guard, the base went into lockdown at 8:21 a.m. before an all-clear was issued at 26 minutes later.

Base and local law enforcement responded and found no evidence of an active shooter, the National Guard said in a tweet.

The 157th Air Refueling Wing and its subordinate units, which are based at Pease, are drilling at the base Saturday and Sunday, officials said.
