Police Release Photo of Woman Found in River

Portsmouth Police hope photo of Debra Dockham will help generate leads.

Portsmouth Police have released a photo of Debra Dockham, the Portsmouth woman found floating in the Piscataqua River last week, in the hope that it will aid their investigation into her death.

Following an autopsy by the New Hampshire Medical Examiner's office in Concord that showed that Dockham drowned in the river on April 26, Portsmouth Police Capt. Corey MacDonald said the investigation into how Dockham ended up in the water is ongoing.

Dockham, who police say maintained a regular presence downtown, was found floating in the river on Thursday night by some fishermen who notified the Coast Guard. and at the station until she was tranported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital, but they were unable to resuscitate her.

Portsmouth Police idenfied Dockham on Friday evening. In a press release, MacDonald noted that police want her friends and contacts whom she may have spoken with earlier in the week to contact Detective Scott Study, the lead investigator in the case.

MacDonald said they are hoping people who Dockham knew may share some information about her whereabouts or activities leading up to whenever she ended up in the river.

Besides Portsmouth Police, the case is also being investigated by  Kittery, Maine, Police detectives and the Maine State Police, according to MacDonald.
