Portsmouth Criterium, 'The Dark Knight' Happening This Weekend

Trader Joe's now open in Newington; The Serfs, Polka Rock the Press Room; Fuel and More's 5th annual River Dance happening in nearby Kittery, Maine.

As most city residents know, there is never a shortage of fun things to do or places to go in Portsmouth. Each Friday, we will offer five suggestions for people who are planning out their weekends.

1. Portsmouth Criterium returns: The annual Portsmouth Criterium bicycle touring race will take over the streets of downtown Portsmouth this Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a full day of racing.

2. Trader Joe's now open: After six months of planning and preparation, the new Trader Joe's store officially opened at the Crossings at Fox Run in Newington on Friday morning. If you have never been to a Trader Joe's store to peruse their unique food items, definitely stop by and check it out.

3. The Dark Knight showing at Prescott Park: The Service Credit Union Movies in the Park series continues this Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with a showing of the film, "The Dark Knight."

4. Go to Fuel and More's River Dance: The 5th annual Fuel and More's River Dance is taking place on Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Weathervane Lobster in the Rough restaurant on Badger's Island to raise money to help keep Kittery, Maine area residents warm this winter.

5.: Don't miss The Serfs, Polka Rock: The Press Room is always a great venue for live music and this Saturay The Serfs, Polka Rock will be rocking the house at 9 p.m. There is a $7 cover charge for Saturday's show.
